Final event Leonardo MASS Project

Final event Leonardo MASS Project

Soft Skills are the essential life skills required by employers such as motivation, flexibility, timekeeping and team working. However these skills are seldom taught to young people in preparation for employment.

Bureau Zuidema participated in the MASS project: Measuring and Assessing Soft Skills. A European project for developing employability skills in young people. The final project meeting finds place on 21st and 22th September 2011.

This event presents the findings of this Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation Project funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme and includes:

  • The European context for increasing employability skills in young people;
  • A presentation of a complete training package that has been used successfully with young people in five European Union countries (UK, Greece, Netherlands, Romania and Sweden);
  • An examination of the issues of developing soft skills in education and in the workplace;
  • A demonstration of how the training package measures against the European Qualifications Framework and can be adapted for use in any context.

Interest from across Europe has been significant and the project partnership intends to develop a European network of organizations interested in soft skills and submit an application for further LLP funding. Part of the event will be devoted to exploring this idea and create the basis for a funding proposal for submission in February 2012.
